Level 1 Beginner

A weekly drop-in class suitable for those wishing to learn or revisit the foundational principles of yoga. We will explore breath, basic postures linked in a flowing sequence, alignment, relaxation.

Open to all, although a minimum level of fitness would be desirable as it is a dynamic class.

As this is an ongoing class, those with absolutely no previous experience whatsoever might prefer the COMPLETE BEGINNERS COURSE as a safer starting point.

We’ll begin with a gentle warm-up and an introduction to breathing techniques and breath-synchronised movement.
The middle section of the class will introduce the foundational postures of yoga, linked in a flowing sequence. There will be plenty of instruction and attention to alignment details, working on toning and strengthening the body, increasing flexibility and encouraging a calm focused meditative awareness.
Gradually winding down into a deep and replenishing relaxation.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes early for all classes as latecomers may not be admitted once the class is underway.

Try not to eat within 2 hours before a class as it can be uncomfortable. If you are hungry, try something light like a piece of fruit.

Wear comfortable stretchy/loose clothing. you may get hot and possibly cold, so bring a couple of layers.

It is hygienic and advisable to have your own yoga mat, although they are always available to borrow.

Let the teacher know of any injury or condition that may affect your practice.

Please avoid strong scents and perfumes.
